Being a fuck up as a juvenile, Da'vay found himself being raised by the California Youth Authority.

After eight-in-a-half years and a master plan to get his life back on track, Da'vay was ready to be released back into the world. A world he no longer knew. The only person by his side was his beloved and cherished sister, Dijonnae.

Within a years time, Da'vay had recruited three females, Honey, Kiya and Ceatha and began executing his master plan. He never imagined his choice in these three women would wreak havoc not only to his plan, but to him and Dijonnae's entire existence.

Dijonnae, just like her brother was very over protective and willing to fight to the death to make sure her brother never left her side again. She worked and hustled hard to keep him with a smile. But once Kiya pulled the ultimate stunt it caused one death after another, including the death of Kiya's own child. Da'vay exploded into someone so unrecognizable that even he, himself couldn't fathom the outcome.

After 8 years of being locked up Da'vay was released and during those 8 years he learned absolutely nothing. I don't know what happens with his parents but the only family mentioned is his sister, Dijonnae. She sets him up real nice after his release. And if he had just followed her lead he may have been able to get ahead in the game.

Things are going smoothly for about a year. Then Da'vay makes the ultimate mistake, he sleeps with the women he has recruited to work for him, Honey (who is no pushover), Kiya (who falls in love with Da'vay) and Ceatha (the one Da'vay could never get).

Jealousy rears its ugly head and causes Dijonnae to have to clean up yet another one of her brothers' messes. Her reaction detonates an already volatile situation into a deadly change of events.

This was an okay read took only a couple of hours for me to finish. My problem with this book is it reminds me of another book that I read. I can recall the same stuff happening the raping of a mother, the burning of a family (or family member), both sides going back and forth and one topping the next. All were recently released from prison and one had what amounts to a maniac episode which is what I think happens with Da'vay. So since I've felt like I've read this version of a troubled life before it didn't really do much for me. I can say I liked Honey's and Ceatha characters. I like how they kept their cool and handle things by thinking ahead not always on an emotion. I feel that T.R. Nairn has a great ability at creating strong female characters.

Da'vay seems to be a very selfish person and really cared for no one and nothing besides his sister and money. Once you take away the one thing someone loves only to things can happen. They will either go on with their life alone or lose their ever-loving mind.

(oh and I know the saying is I'm I My Brother's Keeper but I thought in this case Da'vay's actions is what lead to his sisters death. Yes, she could have not gotten involved but she would do anything for him and him her. So he should have handled his women with a little more care or not at all. Since they were all each other had they were each other's keeper.)
